I was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. I received my MD degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and my PhD from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina, Greece. I completed my fellowship in Nephrology and kidney transplantation in Veria and Thessaloniki. I was further trained in kidney transplantation at the Western Infirmary Hospital, Glasgow and at the Hamersmith Hospital, London in UK. I have completed a six months sabbatical in the Research Unit of Reggio Calabria, Institute of Biomedicine and Molecular Immunology “A. Monroy”, Italian National Research Council (CNR), Reggio Calabria, Italy.
I am Associate Professor of Nephrology in the University of Ioannina, and for the last 10 years, Head of the Department of Nephrology, at the University Hospital of Ioannina Greece. I am currently a member of the Eureca-M ERA working group and member of the scientific committee of ERA congress 2026. I have authored or co-authored over 150 full scientific papers, I am the principal investigator in a number of multicenter RCTs, national and international funded research projects .
