Vladimir Prelević was born in Podgorica, where he completed elementary school and high school “Slobodan Škerović”. He graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Montenegro. He completed postgraduate specialist studies in nephrology as well as postgraduate doctoral studies in “Biomedicine and Health” at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. He is employed at the Clinic for Nephrology, Clinical Center of Montenegro, where is the Head of the Center for dialysis. He is a teaching assistant in the internal medicine course at the School of Medicine, University of Montenegro. He completed his residency in nephrology in October 2023 at the Department of Nephrology, Arterial Hypertension, Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation at KBC Zagreb under the mentorship of Academician Bojan Jelaković. He has finished School of Medicine, University of Zagreb on 05.12.2024 with the topic “Arterial stiffness and target organ damage in patients with arterial hypertension” under the mentorship of Academician Bojan Jelaković. He was one of the active participants of the HERIC project “HLA in MNE”, the implementation of which resulted in the opening of the first accredited HLA laboratory in Montenegro. He is the President of the Montenegrin Association for Vascular Health and Aging. He is a member of the Montenegrin Medical Chamber and the Croatian Medical Chamber. He is a member of numerous professional associations: Croatian League for Hypertension, Croatian Kidney Society, ERA-EDTA (European Society for Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation) and ESH (European Society for Hypertension) and the International Society for Vascular Health and Aging. He participated in the work of these societies with papers and lectures at numerous regional and international congresses. In 2023, he was the laureate of the Croatian Society for Atherosclerosis/International Society for Atherosclerosis for his doctoral research related to the stiffness of blood vessels in patients with stage 1 arterial hypertension and chronic kidney disease. He is the author and co-author of 20 scientific articles that are mainly indexed in CC journals. His major areas of interest are arterial hypertension, vascular aging and diabetic kidney disease, kidney transplantation and acute kidney disease.
