Prof. Ali Başçı is a nephrologist and one of the five founding members of the Balkan Association of Nephrology, Dialysis, Transplantation, and Artificial Organs (BANTAO), where he served as President from 1999 to 2001. His efforts contributed to establishing BANTAO as a platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing in nephrology across the Balkan region.
Born on August 4, 1951, Prof. Başçı completed his medical degree at Ege University, followed by a nephrology fellowship at Tulane University. Returning to Turkey, he became Chief of Nephrology at Ege University Hospital, where he played an active role in patient care and department administration. His contributions extend internationally, notably through his involvement with the European Renal Association as Council Member and expert for EBPG. 
Prof. Başçı has published numerous works on nephrology topics such as dialysis and chronic kidney disease management. He currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus at Ege University, where he remains engaged in research and mentoring.
